The Shanghai chapter of Mentor Walks Asia is a monthly series aimed at connecting emerging leaders with established executives in Shanghai’s vibrant women’s professional community. Whether held at M on the Bund or in one of Shanghai’s many historic parks, each walk offers a 1 hour window for Mentors to connect with a group of Mentees to discuss personal and professional successes, challenges and long-term goals.
Following a successful series in Beijing, the Shanghai chapter Mentor Walks Asia launched in 2015 as a joint collaboration between Michelle Garnaut, CEO of M Restaurant Group and M on the Bund, the American, Australian, British, Benelux, Canadian and Swiss Chambers of Commerce, along with the International Professional Women’s Society (IPWS).
A typical Mentor Walk gathers around 10-20 Mentors and 30-40 Mentees, aiming to keep a ratio of 2-3 Mentees for each Mentor. Mentees are young professionals, middle managers, or executives who are starting their careers, experiencing career transitions, or looking for inspiration as they launch new ventures. Please note: Mentees are not students.
Nine walks are scheduled each year between March—November. The opening and closing Mentor Walks, held in March and November of each year, generally gather a larger group of approximately 100 professionals. Please note that Mentor Walks will now cost RMB 50 throughout the year and we kindly ask that everyone involved donates RMB 100 to Educating Girls of Rural China (EGRC) for the first and last walks. We don’t take cash on-site and no refunds or fapiaos. Please book online before you come.
