
Mei left her humble roots as an electrician’s daughter in Yunnan province to pursue a Harvard Business School MBA, and later worked as a consultant at McKinsey & Company. However, she found her true passion in travel and founded WildChina in 2000. Under her leadership, WildChina flourished from a small Hutong operation into an award-winning business with accolades including National Geographic Adventure – “Best Adventure Travel Company on Earth”; National Geographic Traveler – “Tours of a Lifetime”; Travel + Leisure -“Best Life-Changing Trips”; and Fast Company – “Most Innovative Companies”.
Mei’s own expertise has led her to win a number of personal awards, including Travel + Leisure “A-List Top Travel Advisor”, Conde Nast Traveler “Top Travel Specialist”, and Wendy Perrin’s “#WOW List of Travel Experts”. Mei lives in Beijing with her husband and three children. All the while, she maintains a virtual identity true to her origin.
